Garry Kasparov

Garry Kimovich Kasparov was born in Baku, Azerbajian at April 13. He would turn out to be the greatest chess Grandmaster ever. Kasparov started young in 1985, when he became the youngest World Chess Champion ever, and held this record until 1993.
Kasparov retired from competitive chess on March 10, 2005, during the Linares tournament, turning his attention to politics and writing. It was quite a suprising retirement since at the moment he retired he was ranked first on the world ranking, having a rating of 2812.
During the last years of his professional life, Garry Kasparov made a series of books, My Great Predecessors, which became one of the most popular series on Chess Books Online.
