Kasparov started young in 1985, when he became the youngest World Chess Champion
ever, and held this record until 1993.
Kasparov retired from competitive chess on March 10, 2005, during the Linares tournament, turning his attention to politics and writing.
It was quite a suprising retirement since at the moment he retired he was ranked first on the world ranking, having a rating of 2812.
